Laws are not Absolute

Imagine if you will a the fact that 2+3=?. Not hard, it's simple elementary mathematics.
Now imagine that you do not know for certain the actual value of 3.
What if three could be equal to 4 or 0 depending on the circumstances surrounding the + sign.
Now you know the bane of my existance that is property law.
It's easy as long as you know what is going on, it is terrible when you don't.

BRADFORD
I am in Colo. Springs staying at the Bradford Home Suites. They have internet access. They have free - high speed - internet access! Therefore, I CAN BLOG! And chat on MSN and all kinds of shitty shit like that. Not that I really needed the internet, I am only here for a day. But as someone who now carries potential internet access wherever he goes, this is a cool thing. Did I mention it was FREE?!
BOWLING
I just wanted to take a moment and let the whole rest of the world know how very incredibly proud I am of my bowling team. That would be DREW, JIM, BRYSKI, and ME. (That is the order we bowl in.) Last night, they decided, with no prompting from me, that we should work to be known as the most FUN team to bowl with. We clap for the other people when they do good. We feel sorry for the other teams when they do bad. We are there to have FUN!
This is especially touching to me, becuase I have found that you never really know what kind of competitors your friends can be until you get them into a competitive situation. I was always raised with the ideals of camaraderie and sportsmanship and fair play, but I know not everyone else has been. It is unbelievably nice to be able to enjoy my Friday nights with a group of people who can be serious about their bowling, have fun, and be nice to the opposition.
FRIDAY NIGHTS ARE GOING TO BE FANTASTIC!
Did I mention the two + pitures of alcohol Jim, Bryski and I are probably going to injest every week? The only down side to this whole experience is that Drew isn't old enough to drink. Oh well, we still love him. :)

... today is the first day of autumn. By my moon phase program, today is almost exactly the half way point to the full moon. We are half way through the week. Change is certainly in the air today. I have noticed from the blogs of many within the flock that they too are feeling it. My instinct - embrace the change, let it sweep you up into becoming a better person. Let it carry you though the hard times. Let it help you find the good, and keep it. Change is important for all of us, lest we as people become stagnant. Lest our souls become beat into submission and stop seeking freedom. Indeed, embrace this weather, embrace this change, embrace everything you can. Good things are on their way.

For my 50TH post!
I was thinking this would be a sort of birthday celebration post when I got around to it, however, it is not going to be. The fact that today is the day of my 50TH post is really a happy coincidence.
This morning I woke up at 6:00 in hopes I would get a call once again to go to the GYM. I did not. I decided instead, I would read law. WHAT A WAY TO WAKE YOURSELF UP. A good statutory rape case, some contracts law about PROMISSORY ESTOPPEL (look it up at law.dictionary.com) and I was off and running. I got a good long shower where standing under the water was happy, and I made it to the soccer field to throw rangs for a good 45min before class. I actually comitted myself to a "last throw" on which I caught the DELICATE ARCH at about 15 feet from the pin. ONE HANDED! I had all of the rangs tuned in close enough to be getting around 10 feet from the pin on a regular basis. YEAH! And I did it all without a windicator.
Needless to say, I was more awake and alert than I have been in a good week and a half.
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY!

I wanna be a judge when I grow up!
Wednesday, September 15, 2004
So evadently a couple guys ran into a tree. The state where the case was brought is a no-fault state meaning the people pressing chanrges didn't stand a chance. The lower court ruled as such. What follows is the court's actual written decision from the appeal.
"We thought that we would never see
A suit to compensate a tree.
A suit whose claim in tort is prest
Upon a mangled tree's behest;
A tree whose battered trunk was prest
Against a Chevy's crumpled crest;
A tree that faces each new day
With bark and limb in disarray;
A tree that may forever bear
A lasting need for tender care.
Flora lovers though we three,
We must uphold the court's decree.
Affirmed"

Thus beings a series about getting shit out in the open, and off my chest. If this fucker is supposed to be a diary of sorts - here goes.
So here I set wondering what I should blog.
How about a blog about love?
Love, why love? You know that is a painful subject. One person I let myself love told me he would never love me, another just stopped talking to me all together. Why would I wanna talk about love. Love HURTS.
If love was a book, where would you keep it.
In the rare books library where you could only see it, touch it or even look at it wearing gloves and under the supervision of others.
Who would supervise?
Good question. I don't know if I have found anyone I could trust with it yet. I'll leave it in the vault until then.
What about lust?
Lust is a children's book, everyone can read it. Everyone does read it, and they seem to get more out of my lust than I do.
caring and compassion?
Caring and compassion - those go in the regular library, somewhere like non-fiction or reference where everyone is sure to find them. I would tell my friends to read caring and compassion. Some people think they are dangerous, and there is this one really scary part about trust. The ending is phenomenal if you can get through them. You have to make sure you have enough time to read them together though, the library won't let you take them out separately.
You're messed up man.
Yeah, well, it's not like you do much to get me out of it.
Hey, I am just that little voice inside your head, if you listened to me people would think you were crazy.
Most people already do.
OOH. . you have to get to class. I'm just gonna stay here and look around though. DAMN This place is big.. kinda lonely.. what do you call it?

I AM NOT MY MOTHER
Tuesday, September 07, 2004
... or my father for that matter! My name is Travis, and it was I who opened a savings account last week, not them! Yet somehow with the miracle of modern computing the account ended up in one of their names. This means, that I cannot transfer money to pay bills, without being whichever one of them got the account assigned to them. This was the conversation with two different people re: my account.
"What is your name again?"
Travis
"do you go by any other name?"
No
"Then the account doesn't have your name on it"
Super, and that means there is nothing I can do?
"You'll have to call your local bank and ask them."
Thanks for everything.
NO REALLY THANKS FOR EVERYTHING! Luckily this must be a regularly occurring problem, because guess what, the local bank fixed it over the phone. Or it should be fixed tomorrow when the person with access to the savings account information gets back to do that. Until then there is a memo with my account number floating around the bank waiting to be acted upon. The good news... YEAH. my bills will get paid afterall. Phew!

I hate Bush
Thursday, September 02, 2004
So I watched a little bit of GW's speech tonight, just to see if he was going to say anything that I thought would actually hurt Kerry's campaign. My answer is affirmatively to the negative-o. Seriously, why would anyone re-elect a President that is promising to fix things that weren't problems when he took office? Oh, and just so you know, Bush is committed to "opening the frontier of freedom." So anyone who has been severely trodden upon in the last 4 years: GLBT, Latinos/as, African Americans, Women, The middle class, The people of any number of countries now less safe, this man should be trusted because we know what he will do. We should trust him to go back on this promise, and take away all of our freedoms. We can trust him to turn his back on us once again, and make our enemies stronger. We can trust him to turn us out into the cold to starve. We can trust that he will take away our freedom to choose. We can trust, because we know the track record, that G.W. Bush will continue to take away our freedoms in freedom's name. The frontier he spoke of in his speech is in part a legal one. How far can he go in taking away the just rights of others? The frontier is a a societal one. How far will the American people let him go before someone cries foul loud enough to be heard. The frontier is a moral one. How long will we, as a society, tell us what to believe before we realize that because we have stood for so little we have fallen for EVERYTHING.
I am now sitting in a room ajoining the living room and can still hear the T.V. only ever so slightly. The thing I pick up on is the crowd chanting "4 more years, 4 more years, 4 more years." Do we really have to ask ourselves what 4 more years would mean? We know what the last four have stood for, and everyone I know (even the staunchest Republican) is more miserable than they ever were in the previous 8. Some call this coincidence, I call it fate. Our fate, if we set back and let it happen again.
If anyone has any other reason why GW Bush should not be re-elected let me give you but my last reason. This man came on TV and chopped the end off of Will and Grace. You may be able to forgive him for the economic shortfalls, for the war in Iraq, for the marriage amendment, for his institutionalization of his extremist faith, and for his threat to a woman's right to choose, but how, I ask you, can you forgive him for cutting off the end of Will and Grace?
